Pai Gow Poker

Pai Gow Poker is one of the less tense and slower games in the Poker world as here you have not only time to think about how you are going to use your hand, but time to work out what is going to be your high hand and what is going to be your low hand.

53 Cards are used in this game as one joker is put into the pack. This joker can be used as any card that you want it to be to make up any

To start off with each player around the table has to place a bet before any cards are dealt. Once each player has placed their wager, each player, including the dealer/banker/house gets a total of 7 cards, straight off the top of the pack. These cards are not dealt one to each player around the table till there are seven cards in each hand, seven cards are taken straight off the top and placed in front of the player. Each hand is now picked up and arranged in the order in which the player wants to play his/her cards.

The 7 cards are now split up into two sets. One set of five cards (Back Cards) and another set of two cards (Front Cards). These two sets will be the highest value that you can get out of what you have been dealt.

These two hands are arranged in the best possible configuration that one can get with what has been dealt.

Once the hands have been divided and placed on the table face down, the dealer will then sort out his/her cards. All cards are laid out on a demarcated area on the table from highest to lowest. The dealer will now sort his card the same way as the player, forming two set – one of 5 cards and one of 2 cards.

It is now ascertained who has the highest value. To win this round, the dealer or the player has to win both sets, otherwise it is a push and the pot goes over to the next round.

To play Pai Gow Poker you need a very basic understanding of poker, but it is a game that can be learnt easily as it is a slow paced game.
